TFT Travels: Eataly, NYC
‘Italy is Eataly’ as the sign above the door said proudly. This lively Italian marketplace/food haven near the iconic NYC Flatiron building did not disappoint.

5th Avenue by night.
And that’s exactly why we only Eataly good food!
Look at that gorgeous produce. Well done Oscar Farinetti, Mario Batali and Joe Bastianich – reassuring when celebrity chefs open accessible, something for everyone places.
Who would mind post-work grocery shopping if it meant coming here?
‘La Pizza & La Pasta’. Always a good idea while you shop.
You can take the food to go, if you have the will power.
OR you could get a table, sit back, drink a Pacher Hof Kerner 2014, (tasted like a delicious cross between a Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio) and eat the ‘Quadrati con Ricotta e Spinaci’, and feel all indulged. This was the house made ravioli with local ricotta and spinach, topped with pistachios and lemon butter. Perhaps the most flavoursome meal I had in NYC. That wine went down too easy.
La Piazza, done up like an Italian square. It serves dishes made fresh from the food at the surrounding counters.
Il Pesce serves fresh seafood from the nearby seafood counter. There is a daily fresh selection of oysters, in addition to the ‘catch of the day’.
Fresh meats.
Cured meats and cheese.
Cheeeese!
So much atmosphere.
Ending the evening on a high note at the Nutella sponsored crepe/gelato section. In retrospect, I can’t believe we didn’t get espressos. We’ll just have to go back.
