Tasting the Menu at Indian Accent

Modern Indian food at Chef Manish Malhotra’s Indian Accent. Great food and creative presentation abound as we sample the menu.

This most sought after table in the city was a treat from my sister. So, we reached The Manor hotel with high expectations for a Sunday lunch. I chose the vegetarian tasting menu to be washed down with martinis.

This culinary affair opened with baby naans with blue cheese stuffing. Interesting but not unique.

The amuse bouche was a sweet corn shorba with garam masala which was quite nice.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent13

The potato sphere chaat, with white pea ragda.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent10

The burrata papdi chaat wasnt quite so great nor was the pulled kathal phulka taco. The phulka taco was too bland and limp to give any crunch to this fusion.

The tofu medu vadai with its accompaniment was a delightful twist and much enjoyed.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent18

The melt in your mouth goat cheese kebabs.

The next course was fusion lasagna with sheets of potato with minced soya which was flavorful.

The mattar paneer was a sort of deconstructed version with a pea puree and paneer ravioli stuffed with baingan bharta. I couldn’t really get used to the change in the texture from the original dish, and this was probably wasted on me.

The chur chur roti with pesto.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent6

The masala wild mushrooms.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent8

The dal was quite tasty.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent5

The meal ended with daulat ki chaat – a favourite.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent3

The carrot halwa tart which though nice can never match the halwa cooked by your grandmothers and mothers.

TheFamilyTableIndianAccent2

The Old Monk rum ball with 70% dark chocolate.

Neverthless, a happy experience though I do feel Indian Accent will do more justice to a non-vegetarian palate.
